MERE DISCIPLESHIP
Curious about CCW and Anglicanism?
Mere Discipleship is an 11-week study of Anglican Christianity and its distinctives. Each session has a teaching with time for questions. A good class for newcomers considering membership at CCW, as well as long-standing members. Mere Discipleship meets Sunday mornings, 9:00 - 9:45 a.m. and is offered in the Fall (begins Sept. 13) and the Spring.
Topics include:
Why Join a Church?
The Thirty-nine Articles
(Anglican Statement of Faith)
Why Anglican?
Church History
Nuts & Bolts of Christ Church Westshore
THE PSALMS
The Psalms join the hearts of believers to the heart of their King as together they pant after the glory of God. Written by Hebrew saints from ancient history, they convey the spirit of the Christian faith. In a time when biblical studies are dominated by technical scholarship and modern-day concerns, in the Psalms we have a simply written, deeply personal, yet profoundly insightful book that Calvin rightly called “an anatomy of all parts of the soul.”
This class will teach us how to read The Psalms thoughtfully, prayerfully and more accurately. The goal of the class is to be “changed from glory unto more glory” as we become more like Christ, who is the Psalter of the Psalms.
The class meets Sunday mornings, 9:00 - 9:45 a.m., meeting weekly Sept. 20 - Dec. 20
TUESDAY MORNING MEN'S GROUP
This group is easily accesible for men on the go via You Tube or in person at the church, from 7:00 - 8:00 a.m.. No advance reading, just bring your Bible for a time of teaching and open Q&A (web participants text in their questions).
Starting Sept. 8 the group will walk verse-by-verse through Paul's letter to the Ephesians. The study meets for 12 weeks in the Fall and Spring.
TUESDAY MORNING WOMEN'S GROUP
This group meets weekly, in person, from 9:00 - 1-:30 a.m. Beginning Sept. 22 the group will gather for a 7-session video study, "Jesus & Women in the First Century and Now" by Kristi McLelland. The book is available on Amazon and includes video access, in case you are unable to attend a weekly session.
Imagine walking the dusty roads of Galilee with Jesus of Nazareth—braving jostling crowds just to touch the edge of His cloak and hear Him say, “Take heart, daughter, your faith has healed you.” Those words, once meant to comfort a hurting woman’s soul thousands of years ago, were also meant for you. Examine the historical and cultural climate of first-century Middle Eastern society to not only understand Jesus more deeply but to fuel your worship of Him today.
DEEP DISCIPLESHIP
Deep Discipleship is a comprehensive, 24-week discipleship course, beginning Sept. 2 (with breaks for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter). It is designed to meet your deep desire for a greater love and knowledge of God. The class meets weekly, Wednesday evenings from 6:45 - 8:45 p.m. Childcare is available during the class.
READ, MARK, LEARN
A 12-week Bible study using John MacArthur's book, Twleve Ordinary Men, to explore each disciple's calling to serve Christ, his character and experiences as revealed in scripture and what their lives can teach us about our own discipleship. Beginning Sept. 2, the group meets weekly on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. Childcare is available during the class.
