Community Resource Services (CRS)
The members of Christ Church Westshore feel it is important to reflect the love and compassion of Jesus Christ by being actively involved in activities that answer the needs of our community. Support for Community Resource Services is an important relationship we have developed since our move to Avon Lake.
Community Resource Services (CRS) has been serving as the primary social services agency in Avon and Avon Lake since 1988, providing for basic needs assistance and individualized resource and referral services to needy families. Basic needs assistance can include the provision of food from the on-site food pantry, and assistance with utility bills, medical and/or prescription costs, rent or auto repair.
CRS sponsors a number of seasonal programs that are designed to help relieve the burden on families during times that often carry added stress. These programs include our Santa’s Workshop program in December, Thanksgiving and Easter food baskets, and the Back-to-School Backpack Program. Christ Church supports these seasonal programs with collections of food, monetary donations, the Santa’s Helper Tree (to provide gifts for the CRS Santa’s Workshop). CRS also organizes the Salvation Red Kettle Bell Ringers during the Christmas season and approximately 20 people from Christ Church rang bells at locations in Avon and Avon Lake.
