Little Church Opportunities - CCW's Small Group Ministry
Every Little Church has a leadership board of Teacher/Leader, Assistant, Chaplain, and Mission Coordinator.
9:15am - "Big" Little Church
Gene Sherman - Teacher (Weekly)
“Discovering the Old Testament” 1 hr. of prep per week. The good news about Jesus Christ has never been told apart from the message of the Old Testament. Indeed, we would not even know who Christ is without the messianic predictions given to the people of Israel. This Little church is for the person who wants to begin reading the Bible with some theological guidance. It also provides a basic introduction for further academic study of the Bible. Each week is filled with a 15-20 talk on the main point of the week of readings; 45 minutes as the group discusses their written answers in the “For Thought and Application” questions from the end of the chapter.
7:00pm - Bayvon Lake Group
Skip Sant, Leader (Bi-Weekly)
“Bringing the Message Home” – This group gathers in various homes on Sunday nights in Bay Village, Avon Lake, and Avon to discuss the Sunday morning passage using the Scripture Union questions for study of the Bible.
6:30am - "Hebrews"
Gene Sherman - Teacher (Weekly)
Tuesday AM Men’s Study via Zoom (12 weeks) – This study leads participants through the book of Hebrews and is made up of four basic components: (1) Reflection questions help readers engage the text at a deeper level; (2) “Gospel Glimpses” highlight the gospel of grace throughout the book; (3) “Whole-Bible Connections” show how any given passages connects to the Bible’s overarching story of redemption, culminating in Christ; and (4) “Theological Soundings” identify how historic orthodox doctrines are taught or reinforced throughout Scripture. (There is room for one more participant.)
The book of Hebrews stands apart from other biblical books in its unique portrait of Jesus Christ as the supreme revelation of God 15a portrait bolstered by the author’s skillful use of imagery, metaphor, and Old Testament analogy. This accessible guide walks readers through the book of Hebrews, one of the most beautifully written and theologically rich books in the New Testament.
9:00am - Tuesday Women's Study
Linda Jackson, Leader (Weekly)
(Anchor) – “The Women of the Bible Speak” (The Wisdom of 16 Women and Their Lessons for Today, (beginning on Tuesday, September 14th) outlines the lessons we can take from the valor of Esther, the hope of Hannah, the audacity of Rahab, and the faith of Mary.
